Smoked Honey Glazed Spareribs

Smoked St Louis style spareribs with sweat heat BBQ rub and pineapple chipotle sauce finished off on direct grill or griddle.

Ingredients

  • 1 slab St Louis Style spareribs
  • Sweat Heat BBQ Rub (recommend Lanes BBQ)
  • Pineapple Chipotle BBQ Sauce (recommend Lanes BBQ)
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup squeeze butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • Apple wood chunks

Directions

1.  Preheat your grill/smoker to 225˚F and add wood.

2. Pull the membrane off the back side of rib.

3. Season both sides with Sweat Heat BBQ rub liberally.

4. Smoke on middle rack for 2 hours on in-direct heat.

5. Remove from grill/smoker and place on aluminum foil, top ribs with butter, brown sugar, honey and wrap twice in aluminum foil.

6. Place wrapped ribs back on middle rack of grill/smoker for 1 additional hour at 225˚F.

7. Remove ribs from smoker, unwrap from foil and cut into individual ribs.

8. Place individual ribs in aluminum pan and add BBQ sauce to each rib.

9. Turn grill up to 500˚F.

10. Place individually sauced ribs directly on grill, or griddle, and sear off for 10 - 15 minutes until desired crispiness, add additional sauce as needed for burnt end results.

11. Let rest for 10 minutes and serve while hot.

Pro Tip

  • Place individual ribs on hot griddle top or in cast iron skillet to get burnt end results.
  • The easiest way to remove membrane from the back of a rack of ribs is to use a paper towel and butter knife. Loosen the membrane at one end using a butter knife, sliding it under the membrane on the bone. Once you have it detached from one end, simply get a good grip and peel it away from the ribs. Use a paper towel to help get ahold of the membrane since it can be a little bit slippery.
