Honey Glazed Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog

This Honey Glazed Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog recipe takes a classic to the next level. Hot dogs are spiral-cut, wrapped in thick-cut bacon, and then slow-smoked while being continuously drizzled with honey, creating a sweet and savory glaze. Finished with a high-heat sear for crispy bacon, these unique hot dogs can be enjoyed on a skewer with creamy mustard sauce or served on a bun.

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 (12-inch) wooden skewers
  • 1 pound thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup honey
  • 8 long hot dog buns (optional)
  • Creamy Mustard Sauce

Directions

1. Set a grill/smoker to 300°F.

2. Pierce each hot dog through with a wooden skewer. Spiral cut the hot dog on the skewer.

3. Wrap the hot dog in bacon (one piece should be enough) and secure with toothpicks at each end.

4. Place the hot dogs on the grill/smoker and place a pan under them to catch the drippings.

5. Smoke for 30 minutes, or until the bacon is golden brown, drizzling with honey every 10 minutes.

6. Turn the grill up to 450°F and cook until the bacon is crispy, drizzling with honey and flipping every 3 minutes until desired bacon crispiness.

7. Remove the toothpicks and serve on the skewers with mustard sauce for dipping, or put on hot dog buns for a traditional bite.

Pro Tip

  • You can put it on a hot dog bun and add the creamy mustard sauce for a more traditional hot dog experience!
